Press Release
By Congressman Aaron Bean
4/6/25
With Tax Day only a few days away, I’m working with my colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee to make the IRS more responsive to taxpayers’ needs. Just this week, the House passed four of our common-sense, bipartisan bills to make filing taxes less of a hassle: ![]() H.R. 1155, Recovery of Stolen Check Act requires the IRS to allow taxpayers to request a replacement via direct deposit for a stolen paper check. H.R. 997, National Taxpayer Advocate Enhancement Act prevents IRS interference with National Taxpayer Advocate (NTA) personnel by granting the NTA responsibility for its attorneys. H.R. 998, Internal Revenue Service Math and Taxpayer Help Ac t requires the IRS to notify taxpayers of the specific reasoning for math errors and provides 60 days to challenge the IRS’s assessment of the alleged error. H.R. 1152, Electronic Filing and Payment Fairness Act ensures payments electronically submitted to the IRS are treated as fairly as those done through the mail.As your voice in our nation’s capital, I’m advocating for policies that make the government better for Floridians. These bipartisan bills will do just that by making it easier for the American people to file their taxes. TAKING A TOUR OF THE CAPITOL ![]() This week, I hosted a Capitol tour with folks from the Fourth District and several Florida Gubernatorial Fellows. Getting to show Northeast Floridians around the People’s House is one of my favorite parts of the job. Remember—if you’re coming to Washington, let the Bean Team know. We’d love to help set up tours for you. PROHIBITING THE FEDERAL RESERVE FROM TURNING INTO A RETAIL BANKA central bank digital currency (CBDC), if misused, could become a surveillance tool that threatens individual freedoms and free market principles. I’m proud to join Congressman Tom Emmer in introducing the CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act to defend the American people against the ever-expanding government surveillance state. This legislation is a crucial step in protecting Americans’ financial privacy and ensuring that the federal government does not have unchecked power over how we spend our money. URGING SECRETARY KENNEDY TO REVOKE BIDEN-ERA MEDICAID POLICIES TARGETING FLORIDAIn 2022, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a new supplemental payment program for Florida. However, shortly after approving the program, CMS abruptly announced a sweeping audit of the financing of that program. I joined Congressman Neal Dunn in urging Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert Kennedy Jr, to prevent Florida from being subjected to these burdensome regulatory standards that are harming Medicaid recipients and burdening our hospitals. SLASHING TAX FILING RED TAPE FOR DISASTER VICTIMSWhen disaster strikes, what is the first thing on your mind? I can tell you it is certainly not taxes! I believe the IRS should be more responsive to taxpayer needs – including those impacted by natural disasters. That’s why, this week, I was proud to help pass: H.R. 1491, Disaster Related Extension of Deadlines Act to allow the IRS to delay tax deadlines for Americans living in state-declared disaster areas to ensure taxpayers affected have additional time to claim disaster-related tax refunds. H.R. 517, Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act to authorize the Treasury Secretary, in consultation with FEMA, to postpone tax deadlines for Americans in state-declared disaster areas that have not yet received a federal disaster declaration. When the unexpected occurs, victims should be focused on what matters, rebuilding and recovering, not pesky tax deadlines. DOGE TEAM MEMBERS ARE DOING THIS FOR ONE REASON! ![]() The DOGE Caucus is committed to eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse. We have work to do and no one is immune, not even members of Congress. I joined the Fox Report to discuss the DOGE team’s priorities and cost-cutting initiatives. I DON’T WANT MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO BE WITHOUT TIGHTENING THEIR OWN BELTS! ![]() The greatest threat to America is our staggering $36 trillion debt. Even worse, we are adding $1 trillion to our debt every 100 days. I joined Allen Jackson NOW on Trinity Broadcasting Network to discuss how we are working to stop wasteful spending and improve government efficiency. CASEWORK CORNER This past week, a constituent reached out to my office with an urgent request for help with their insurance through HHS. Her husband was awaiting a liver transplant, but they had to postpone the surgery because HHS dropped their insurance due to alleged fraud. The family had been struggling to get their insurance back before the surgery. After contacting my office, we worked with HHS, and their policy was quickly reinstated in time for the operation! Are you a constituent in need of casework assistance? My staff and I are here to help you. Call us today at 904-830-3933. Sincerely, Congressman Aaron Bean Proudly Serving Florida’s Fourth Congressional District |
