Press Release
By Congressman Aaron Bean
09-21-24
This week, we remember the more than 500,000 prisoners of war (POW) who endured the horrors of enemy captivity and faithfully served through severe suffering and incomprehensible trauma. We remember the tens of thousands of our brave patriots who are still missing in action (MIA) and have yet to return home safely to the warm embrace of their families and loved ones.
Â
In an expression of solidarity, Americans will gather to honor the lives and deeds of our greatest heroes, and a black and white flag will fly proudly. All of this is good and fitting, but our brave patriots deserve a special place to be honored and mourned. That’s why I introduced legislation to designate the POW/MIA Memorial Museum at Cecil Field in Northeast Florida as a national landmark.
Â
While it is our sacred duty to pay tribute to these gallant patriots, it’s also our solemn obligation to never leave a service member behind. So, with a grateful heart, I join you in saluting those who endured great dangers in the hands of the enemy and those lost in service to our nation, and in reaffirming our commitment to resolve the accounting of our great American patriots. Â

The Biden-Harris Administration’s Small Business Administration (SBA) is supposed to help small businesses and entrepreneurs thrive, but its radical policies continue to fail them.Â
Â
During Wednesday’s House Small Business Committee, I highlighted how the SBA’s ill-advised rule changes to their loan program are hurting Main Street and increasing costs for taxpayers.Â
PASSED: ANTI-BDS LABELING ACT

The BDS movement is not just inherently anti-Israel. It’s anti-American. Our taxpayer dollars should be used to promote prosperity not destructiveness.Â
Â
That’s why I was proud to support Representatives Claudia Tenney and Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith’s Anti-BDS Labeling Act. This bill would prohibit the Biden-Harris Administration from targeting specific goods made in portions of the West Bank controlled entirely by Israel. This bill passed by a vote of 231 to 189.Â
WE ARE IN A FIGHT FOR ELECTION INTEGRITY, BUT IT’S A FIGHT WORTH HAVING

Illegal immigrants are on voter rolls across the nation, including Northeast Florida. Even worse, there is nothing stopping them from voting in our United States elections.Â
Â
On Wednesday, I was proud to speak on the House Floor in support of the SAVE Act, critical legislation that will ensure only American citizens vote in our American elections.Â
BEAN STRENGTHENS INVESTIGATIONS OF MEDICARE AND MEDICAID FRAUDÂ
Did you know taxpayers lost $100 billion to Medicaid and Medicare fraud last year? Every dollar stolen from taxpayers is one dollar too many. That’s why on Thursday, I introduced the We Want Our Healthcare Money Back Act to protect taxpayer dollars and ensure these critical resources go to those who need it most. Learn more HERE.Â
CASEWORK CORNER
A constituent who was approved for Social Security Disability Benefits ran into an issue receiving his payments. After 8 months of no payments, the constituent’s attorney worked with the Social Security Administration with no success. After calling our office, a dedicated team member was able to intervene on his behalf and as a result he received $57,879 in back pay.

NEW ONLINE PASSPORT RENEWALÂ
Millions of Americans can now renew their passports online thanks to the Department of State’s Online Passport Renewal (OPR) system. OPR is a secure and paperless process that makes it easier for Americans to renew their passports by eliminating the need to print a paper application, use a check, and physically mail their application. The OPR system is available at Travel.State.Gov/renewonline.
Sincerely,  Â
