Press Release

By Congressman Aaron Bean

10-26-24

Fighting organized retail crime and fraud remains one of my top priorities. I am honored the National Retail Federation has recognized me as a Retail Crime Fighter for my work to expand the needed theft protections for small businesses. ImageI know that you and your families are fed up with organized retail crime and the threat it poses to our communities and that’s why I’m taking action in Washington.  I’ll continue to advocate for common-sense legislation, like H.R. 895, the Combatting Organized Retail Crime Act, that holds these perpetrators accountable and restores law and order.

ICYMI: PROTECTING CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS
ImageAs Chairman of the Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education Subcommittee, I joined Education and the Workforce Committee Chair Virginia Foxx in questioning the Department of Education’s (ED) attempt to bog down career and technical education programs in red tape.

I believe the most valuable part of America’s job market is its skilled workforce. That’s why I’m calling on the ED to empower local and state CTE programs, not drown them in paperwork. Now more than ever, we must work to strengthen the public education system and help employers access a pipeline of talented workers. Read more HERE

BEAN TO FAA: PROTECT OUR SKIES WHILE ALLOWING AMERICAN COMPANIES TO INNOVATE
ImageAs a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I joined my colleagues in urging the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to establish rules for companies, like Amazon, to utilize drones for business operations. This is to ensure continued safety in our skies and to protect our communities. Learn more HERE .

AROUND THE DISTRICT: VYSTAR RIBBON CUTTING
Image
As a father and former community banker, I believe we should make every effort to encourage our youth to develop responsible financial habits. That’s why this week, I was excited to attend the ribbon cutting for the VyStar Academy of Business at Riverside High School in Jacksonville.

Together, VyStar Credit Union and Riverside High are working to ensure Northeast Florida students have the tools they need to be economically stable, build wealth, and achieve their dreams.

WELCOMING NEW AMERICANS
Image
On Wednesday, I was honored to watch 17 individuals take the Oath of Allegiance during a naturalization ceremony at Paxton School for Advanced Studies in Jacksonville.

These men and women came from 14 different nations and approached citizenship the right way. To our newest fellow Americans—welcome home.

TOURING NORTHEAST FLORIDA MANUFACTURING: AMMCON
Image

I was excited to visit Fairbanks Morse Defense’s AMMCON facility in Green Cove Springs. During this visit, I saw firsthand AMMCON’s production capabilities, including their expertise in crafting precision components essential for the performance and reliability of our submarines and aircraft carriers.

AMMCON is an economic engine for our community and has brought great pride to our state by strengthening our role in national defense. In Congress, I’ll continue to support Northeast Florida’s manufacturing might.

CASEWORK CORNER

I am proud to report that my team and I were able to help a constituent get both her and her child’s passport expedited before an international trip. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the constituent was bogged down in red tape. Luckily, we were able to supply her with the necessary paperwork and they were able to have a great trip to London!

Serving YOU is what we do! If you need help obtaining a passport, give my office a call today!

TODAY IS NATIONAL DAY OF THE DEPLOYED
Image
It’s National Day of the Deployed! As the son of a WWII Veteran, I understand what the sacrifice of deployment means for our military personnel and their loved ones. Today, I invite you to join me in saying “thank you” to our courageous warfighters who have previously been deployed, the 170,000 American troops currently serving overseas, and their families here on the home front.

STATE DEPARTMENT ISSUES GUIDANCE ON TRAVEL ABROAD TO VENEZUELA

The Department of State has issued a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory for U.S. Citizens planning to travel to the country of Venezuela due to the high risk of wrongful detentions, terrorism, and kidnapping. President Maduro and his representatives have shown that they will detain and jail U.S. citizens who enter the country without justification or due process.
