Press Release

This week, the House advanced the Senate Amendment to H.Con.Res.14, also known as the Senate budget bill, through the legislative process. With its passage, we are unlocking budget reconciliation and paving the way forward to keep your taxes from skyrocketing. ![]() This bill serves as a blueprint for securing the border, unleashing American energy independence backing peace through strength, and rebuilding our military. Most importantly, it is the first step to preventing the largest tax hike in U.S. history. I am committed to achieving these historic tax cuts while cutting spending. I will work with my colleagues to restore fiscal sanity and rein in the runaway spending that threatens to bankrupt our country. REQUIRING PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP TO VOTE ![]() On Thursday, the House delivered on our commitment to protect the ballot box. We passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to ensure that only American citizens vote in our elections. One citizen, one vote. This bill prevents non-citizens from voting and offers more than six ways to verify identity, ensuring all Americans have access to their ballots. REINING IN FEDERAL JUDGES The Constitution’s separation of powers isn’t a suggestion—it’s the foundation of our Republic. Yet practically every week, judges try to usurp President Trump’s executive authority simply because they don’t like his America First policies. This week, we passed H.R. 1526, the No Rogue Rulings (NORRA) Act. This bill stops judges from issuing nationwide injunctions, instead ensuring their ruling only applies to specific parties in a case. House Republicans are sending a clear message: we are restoring the checks and balances in our democracy and ending legislating from the bench. WELCOMING APP CHALLENGE WINNERS ![]() Looking at your phone during a meeting is like a modern-day yawn. It’s contagious, and that’s why their innovative app called CLICK, assists users in limiting their time on social media by redirecting them to more productive tasks. These Stanton College Preparatory School students represent a bright future for our great state, and I enjoyed catching up with them! CLICK is currently on display in the United States Capitol Building, where it will remain for a full year. UPDATE: REVERSING BIDEN’S REGULATORY LEGACY You may remember that in its final months, the Biden Administration imposed over 1,400 unnecessary and harmful rules on American businesses, workers, and families. Since the start of the 119th Congress, the House has been steadily taking action to rollback these burdensome regulations, and this week we passed: S.J Res.18 to reverse a rule that unfairly required large banks to impose costly and confusing overdraft fees. S.J Res.28 to reverse a rule that added egregious compliance burdens on small businesses that used digital payment platforms like Venmo or contactless payments. We are working to curb federal overreach, and protect and expand financial tools for hardworking Americans. RESTORING AMERICAN MANUFACTURING ![]() Over the last four years, we’ve seen our plants and factories close, and our jobs shipped overseas—we need a great American comeback. During Thursday’s Ways and Means hearing with U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer, we discussed how the Trump Administration wants to revive the collapsing manufacturing industry and to restore our balance in trade across the world. However, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) says those who were impacted by disaster declarations in 2024 received an automatic extension to file and pay their taxes. The IRS says disaster victims in nine states, including residents of Florida, have until May 1, 2025, to file and pay their 2024 taxes. See more information HERE.
