Press Release

By Congressman Aaron Bean

3/1/25

The greatest existential threat to the United States is our staggering $36 TRILLION debt, which is projected to reach $59 trillion by 2035 if we don’t change our spending trajectory.

On DOGE Day, I held a press conference where I unveiled a trio of bills aimed at saving taxpayer dollars and holding the government accountable to hardworking Americans.

First, the DRAIN THE SWAMP Act directs the relocation of at least 30% of Washington, DC’s federal workforce to America’s heartland, requires federal employees to show up to the office in person, and facilitates the sale of excess office space.

Second, the CUTS Act slashes wasteful Green New Deal initiatives and claws back unspent Covid funds, saving tens of billions of dollars.

Third, the PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS Act cuts congressional office budgets by $100,000 each year to help reduce federal spending and put less on our nation’s credit card.

As founder and co-chair of the Congressional DOGE Caucus, I am working to Make America Efficient Again. These bills represent the first step in being better stewards of the taxpayer’s money.
PASSED: BILL TO HELP FLORIDA BUSINESSES DURING HURRICANE SEASON

This week, we had a big win for Northeast Florida rural small business owners. My bill, the Rural Small Business Resilience Act, passed the House with overwhelming support. This legislation will strengthen the resiliency of small businesses by connecting them to critical resources when the unexpected happens.

Now that this bill is on its way to the Senate, we are one step closer to eliminating bureaucratic red tape for the sake of our local economies and workforce.
WE ARE PROMOTING A PRO-AMERICAN BUDGET

On Tuesday evening, the House passed the Fiscal Year 2025 budget resolution that lays the groundwork for the Budget Reconciliation process.

This legislation represents the first step in stopping a trillion-dollar tax increase on hardworking Americans, reining in reckless spending, and returning money to your pockets. In addition to fiscal responsibility, this legislation ensures that we will have a strong, safe America by securing our border and investing in our national defense. You demanded change in Crazy Town, and this is us delivering. Learn more HERE.
OVERTURNING GAS WATER HEATER BAN
Image
On Thursday, the House officially stopped another government overreach. With the passage of H.J. Res. 20, we reversed a Biden-era regulation on gas-fired hot water heaters that threatened to raise housing prices and presented a substantial hurdle for remodeling and replacement projects, especially in older homes. You should be able to choose the appliances right for your home.

I will continue to fight to undo burdensome regulations that increase costs on Northeast Floridians, particularly our seniors and low-income households.

REPEALING BIDEN REGULATION INTERFERING WITH AMERICA’S ENERGY COMEBACK
Image
Overregulation destroys businesses. That’s why on Wednesday, the House passed H.J. Res 35, which reverses a Biden-era regulation that limits domestic energy production. Its passage brings us closer to eliminating this natural gas tax and undoing the Biden-Harris administration’s war on American energy production.
THE BIBAS FAMILY
Image
The brutal murder of the Bibas family is not just a tragedy—it is a devastating loss that shakes the core of our humanity. A mother, a father, and their two young children, stolen in an act of unimaginable cruelty. The mother and children savagely murdered and the father held for 484 days. There are no words strong enough to express the grief and horror of such a loss.

Last year, Abby and I took these photos at the front of the house where the Bibas family lived and were last happily together. There were still toys on the front porch and a homemade memorial to the family had been created with likenesses of the boys and notes of hope and encouragement from other families.

This is not just about conflict or politics. This is about human lives, about innocent children who deserved a future, about a family that should still be here-together. How have we come back to a place where such atrocities exist? We must hold onto our humanity, speak out against this darkness, and refuse to accept a world that makes excuses for terror.

May their memories forever be a blessing. May we honor them by standing for life, for peace, and for a future where no family suffers such pain.

CASEWORK CORNER

A Northeast Floridian was erroneously enrolled in a supplemental prescription plan as part of their coverage under Medicare Part D. After contacting my office, our caseworkers were able to quickly resolve the situation and drop the expensive additional coverage, saving them hundreds of dollars.
