Press Release

By Congressman Aaron Bean

11/18/24

It’s a new day in America, and it’s a new day in the United States House. This week, Congress returned to Washington, D.C. to lay the groundwork for the 119th Congress, so we can hit the ground running on behalf of you and the American people.

We have an agenda for the first 100 days to lower food and energy costs, secure our border, and get this economy moving again, so families who have been struggling for far too long will finally have more money in their pockets. As your voice in our nation’s capital, I am focused on reining in Washington’s reckless spending.

I know folks are ready for change in Crazy Town, and they will soon find that we are ready make government work for them on day one.

CELEBRATING VETERAN SMALL BUSINESSES

Image

In May 2023, Congressman Bean highlighted Fernandina Beach veteran and small business owner, Liberty Weaver, at the House Small Business Committee hearing titled, “Saluting Service: Supporting Veteran Owned Small Businesses.”

As National Veterans Small Business Week wraps up, join me in celebrating the extraordinary contributions of our Northeast Florida veteran entrepreneurs. This week is all about honoring and empowering our brave patriots who not only served our great nation but came home to create jobs and opportunities in our communities. Be sure to thank our veterans and shop small.

BEAN, COLLEAGUES DEMAND ANSWERS FROM FEMA OVER DENYING AID TO TRUMP SUPPORTERS

This week, I demanded answers and accountability from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Deanne Criswell following troubling reports that FEMA staff was instructed to avoid hurricane victims displaying Trump for President campaign signs.

It is outrageous that any FEMA personnel would deny aid based on political views. This raises serious concerns about a federally funded agency putting politics over the people. Hurricane victims in Florida and North Carolina have questions and deserve answers on why this happened. We must get to the bottom of this blatant discrimination and ensure those involved are held responsible. Learn more HERE .

If you’ve experienced mail delays, lost mail or untimely service in our region, you’re not alone.  Back in October, I called on USPS Inspector General Tammy Hull and the Office of Inspector General to audit and investigate the Regional Processing and Distribution Center in Jacksonville.

On Friday, I sat down with Action News Jax’s Jake Stofan to discuss the latest on my audit request and react to the swearing-in of the new Postmaster of Jacksonville.

CASEWORK CORNER

A Northeast Florida family reached out to our office requesting assistance in obtaining a passport so their daughter could participate in an international competition in Scotland. Thanks to my dedicated team, the passport was processed, completed, and delivered in time for her to travel to overseas and compete.

Are you in a pinch and need help updating your passport? Don’t worry, give one of my offices a call today!
