Press Release
By Congressman Aaron Bean
11/09/24
In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11th Armistice Day—a day to honor those who gave their all in World War I. In 1954, Congress amended Armistice Day to include all veterans who have fought for American freedom, effectively changing its name to Veterans Day. It is on this day that we salute our remarkably brave patriots who keep America safe. Click HERE for a special video message Because of our veterans’ selfless dedication, unmatched valor, and unsurpassed devotion, We the People, enjoy the blessings of hard-earned peace, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I am honored to advocate for, support, and represent the more than 68,000 veterans that call the Fourth District home. And I am determined to keep delivering results. HOUSE PASSED: Wounded Warrior Access Act a commonsense solution to the antiquated system that allows veterans access to their claim file from the VA without jumping through hoops. HOUSE PASSED: Veterans Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act to direct the VA to increase compensation to ensure our veterans, including disabled veterans, get the financial support they need. HOUSE PASSED: MilCon VA Appropriations Bill to fully fund veterans’ health care programs and fully fund veterans’ benefits and VA programs. COSPONSORED: RELIEVE Act, to eliminate the glaring gap in insurance coverage by expanding emergency care coverage for veterans. To all the American patriots who bravely, faithfully, and selflessly served to protect our freedoms, and earned the title of veteran, thank you. We will forever cherish your service and sacrifice. BEAN RECOGNIZED AS SMALL BUSINESS INVESTING CHAMPION The Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA) presented me with the Champion of Small Business Investing Award for my commitment to advance policies that enhance capital access, foster innovation, and stimulate job growth. Our economy depends upon small businesses, and it’s my job to ensure they have a fighting chance. On the House Small Business Committee, I’m determined to cut regulatory costs and help our entrepreneurs secure the capital they need to start, scale, and sustain their businesses and jobs across the nation—especially in Northeast Florida. ANTISEMITISM ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES EXPOSED As part of his Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittee hearing to address antisemitism in K-12 schools, Congressman Bean held a press conference with Jewish students and educators. After a nearly yearlong, far-reaching, and intense investigation, the Education and Workforce Committee released its detailed report on the explosion of campus antisemitism. The Committee revealed information that shows a stunning lack of accountability by university leaders for students spewing antisemitic hatred, brutalizing Jewish students, and destructing school property. Key findings include: Universities showed negligence in responding to student encampments. University leaders chose not to support Jewish students in the face of antisemitic hate. Universities failed to impose discipline for antisemitic conduct. University leaders expressed hostility to Congressional oversight. The Committee’s report proves these university leaders allowed their campuses to fall into chaotic cesspools of antisemitism. Read more HERE . HONORING THE SERVICE AND SACRIFICE OF OUR WAR FIGHTERS President Calvin Coolidge once said, “The nation which forgets its defenders will be itself forgotten.” On Veterans Day and every day, we cannot take for granted the great men and women of our United States Armed Forces. That’s why I joined Congressman Michael Guest this week to introduce a resolution honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans and their families on November 11, 2024. STANDING STRONG FOR FL-04 As your Congressman, I am humbled for the opportunity to serve you for another two years in the House of Representatives. In Washington, my voice will lift your voice. My vote will reflect your priorities, and I will accomplish the work you sent me to do. We will restore our economic prosperity, strengthen our national security, rein in reckless spending, and fight for our constitutional freedoms. Together, we’ll make Crazy Town less like D.C. and more like Florida. The best is yet to come, so let’s go get’em! ORDER UP: BEAN WORKS SHIFT AT MIDDLEBURG MCDONALD’S! I had the opportunity to suit up and work a shift at McDonald’s in Clay County. I cooked food, bagged hash-browns (never touched the human hand), and even worked the drive-through window. Before my shift started, I sat down with owner and operator, Will Garcia, and several employees to learn more about challenges, ideas, and opportunities related to the food and beverage industry. VICTORY OVER VIOLENCE BREAKFAST It was a moving morning at the ‘Victory Over Violence’ breakfast hosted by The Justice Coalition in Jacksonville. I was humbled to attend this annual event and show my support for thousands of victims of violent crimes and their families. Violent crime is a tragedy. As the Congressman for Northeast Florida, public safety and crime reduction is a top priority for me. That’s why, I’m championing legislation to prevent crime, support victims, and secure justice for survivors. My goal is to deliver a better, safer future for the people of our community. VISITING MIDDLEBURG REHAB AND NURSING CENTER It was wonderful to stop by Middleburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in FL04’s Clay County. I enjoyed visiting with their team to learn more about their challenges as well as their mission to provide compassionate, top-notch care for our seniors. Assisted living facilities across Northeast Florida have experienced a severe shortage of qualified healthcare professionals. As a member of the Education and Workforce Committee, I’ll continue to support investments in CTE programs to combat workforce shortages and protect vital programs, including Social Security and Medicare, for all who depend on them. CASEWORK CORNER Oftentimes, it can take weeks or even months to get one veteran housing, but this week, my office was recognized by the Changing Homelessness staff for our part in getting THREE Clay County veterans housed the SAME DAY! Serving you is what we do! If you or a veteran you know are having issues finding housing, navigating VA benefits, getting a VA appointment, or accessing military records, my office is here to help you. Give us a call at 904-830-3933. CELEBRATE VETERANS DAY WITH FREE ENTRANCE TO NATIONAL PARKS In honor of Veterans Day, the National Park Service is waiving entrance fees to parks for everyone on November 11. In addition, current military and their dependents, veterans, and Gold Star Families can get into all national parks for free with the Military Pass on any day. The passes can be acquired at any national park that usually charges an admission fee. Learn more HERE . Sincerely, Congressman Aaron Bean Proudly Serving Florida’s Fourth Congressional District |
