The upcoming 6 pm September 6 Fernandina Beach City Commission special meeting will be a:

1 Statement regarding the percentage increase in Millage over the rolled-back rate necessary to fund the budget and the specific purpose for which ad valorem tax revenues are being increased. I. Millage rate for operation expenditures | ||
Summary Truth in Millage Statement Proposed Budget |
The rolled back rate is 4.7709 mills per $1,000 of assessed value.
The percentage increase is 11.78% over the rollback millage rate.
The operating millage rate to be levied is 5.3330 mills per $1,000 of assessed
value. This is forecasted to generate a 14.02% increase in property tax revenue over last year.

This will be followed by the regular City Commission meeting which will cover a host of items, with highlights being:
- Preliminary Beach Parks Harmonization Plan
- Main Street Program
- Proclamations ranging in importance from Celebration of our Constitution week all the way down to Commission Dog of the Month (I’m not making this up- but it’s for a good cause).
- Watch the commission slip through items on the “Consent Agenda” (approved by default with no debate usually) of up to a half $ million. Some significant contracts are included.

Interestingly the meetings scheduling is overlapped, with the special meeting shown as 6 pm- to 7pm, while the regular meeting shows as starting at 6:15 pm.
