The upcoming 6 pm September 6 Fernandina Beach City Commission special meeting will be a:

PUBLIC HEARING
1 Statement regarding the percentage increase in Millage over the rolled-back rate necessary to fund the budget and the specific purpose for which ad valorem tax revenues are being increased.

I.  Millage rate for operation expenditures
  Summary
Truth in Millage Statement
Proposed Budget

The rolled back rate is 4.7709 mills per $1,000 of assessed value.
The percentage increase is 11.78% over the rollback millage rate.
The operating millage rate to be levied is 5.3330 mills per $1,000 of assessed
value. This is forecasted to generate a 14.02% increase in property tax revenue over last year.

Here’s the meeting AGENDA.

This will be followed by the regular City Commission meeting which will cover a host of items, with highlights being:

  • Preliminary Beach Parks Harmonization Plan
  • Main Street Program
  • Proclamations ranging in importance from Celebration of our Constitution week all the way down to Commission Dog of the Month (I’m not making this up- but it’s for a good cause).
  • Watch the commission slip through items on the “Consent Agenda” (approved by default with no debate usually) of up to a half $ million. Some significant contracts are included.

Read all the items in the regular meeting AGENDA, or get all the details in the meeting PACKET.

The meetings will be at City Hall:

204 Ash Street
Fernandina Beach, FL 32034
Phone: 904-277-7300

Interestingly the meetings scheduling is overlapped, with the special meeting shown as 6 pm- to 7pm, while the regular meeting shows as starting at 6:15 pm.
