Years ago, as a politically innocent immigrant, I believed that America with its Constitution, its laws and its freedoms, was led by intelligent, observant individuals who would defend the country from outside usurpers. Not long thereafter, in the late-1980s, I began to wonder why our governmental entities tolerated an extraordinary amount of Chinese influence in all layers of American life. How could the elite House members and Senators ignore the glaring intrusions by Chinese people, probably beholden to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) into universities, businesses, technology, medicine, and especially into high levels of government? Many were spying for China, sending an inordinate amount of knowledge back to their government. It made no sense. Why were our politicians selling us to our enemy? China had never hidden their adversarial intent. This affiliation with China would seemingly make no sense until one follows the money trails, and discovered, that certain, Democratic and Republican lawmakers alike, became rich under the Chinese flag, while selling the country off in chunks. Diane Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, the Bidens and, yes, Mitch McConnell among others benefitted from selling advantages to China, while sanctimoniously declaring their intent to do the right thing for a developing country.

As an escapee from communism, I had noted early on that the Democratic Party always ignored communist entities enriching themselves in America through blatant mendacity and larcenous dealings. We saw similar examples during the Cold-War period with Russia, and we see it during all the years of their association with China. And yet, since we are bereft of an investigative and unbiased press, and are served by a slovenly intelligence service, the people become aware of only a minimal amount of the state’s corruption.

I was just enlightened through an article by Stu Cvrk, retired Navy Captain, now engaged in political commentary, on the interesting facts of Mitch McConnell’s political life, especially his Chinese connections. Cvrk’s article on Chinese corruption in the Epoch Times paints the Minority Speaker in a very duplicitous light. In his enlightening piece, Stu Cvrk uses source material compiled in a book by Peter Schweizer. Schweizer, an investigative reporter, has written numerous books documenting the culpability of American elites in a war that has become hot and bloody with dead only on the American side.

Two of the books, Blood Money and Red Handed, are concerned with Mitch McConnell and the Biden Family. I will concern myself here only with McConnell, as the Bidens are dealt with in the House investigations.

Cvrk, apparently feels, as I do, that McConnell’s corruption has been carefully concealed for a long time. People guessed at a quid pro quo in his dealings with China but did not have enough evidence to pursue the matter and those who had the facts benefitted from silence. So, here we are. Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell intends to vacate his leadership position in November. Why now, posits Cvrk? He points to two facts to explain such a drastic step. First, Mitch has become as disliked by the new Republican membership as Joe Biden is by the moderate Democrats. It was foreseeable that he would not be elected to the office of speaker again. Second, Mr. Cvrk believes that the suspicious death of McConnell’s wife’s’ sister, Angela Chao will trigger significant scrutiny of the family in the coming months and may show McConnell in very unpalatable ways.

Be that as it may, scum is already floating to the surface.

Angela Chao was found dead at 50-years-old on February 12, 2024, in her submerged Tesla, in a pond in Blanca County, Texas, belonging to a private party. Numerous private owners of the property have appeared in reports, McConnell’s is one of them. Although, it is being construed as an accident, circumstances are unclear and being investigated. Following the accident, McConnell announces his resignation on February 28, 2024.

Angela Chao was the youngest of Chinese shipping magnate James Si-Cheng Chao’s six daughters. Cheng Chao founded the New York Foremost Group in 1964. Angela had been the CEO of the company since 2018 and was a founding member of The Asian American Foundation.

Angela, living in Texas, served on the boards of American and Chinese groups, including the American Bureau of Shipping Council. She, also, served on the Bank of China, and a holding company for China State Shipbuilding. Cvrk notes that: Her connections to China loom large, particularly in her capacity as the former chair of the U.S. Risk and Management Committee of Bank of China USA, a director of the holding company for state-run China shipbuilding, and a former vice chair of the Council of China’s Foreign Trade.

Here it must be mentioned that China State Shipbuilding Corp. (CSSC) builds ships for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army-Navy, while the council of China’s Foreign Trade is a creation of Beijing’s to facilitate trade world- wide.

By now the questions arise, why would China put so much power and trust in the daughter of a Chinese American? And why are we empowering Chinese companies to further their shipbuilding capabilities by functioning within our country?

Well, the first question is easier explained than the second.

Angela’s father is connected to highest levels of Chinese government. Cvrk mentions Jiang Zemin, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party. According to China Insights, overseas the Chao’s are known as The First Chinese American Family and Mr. Chao as the Chinese Ship King.

So, this is the portrait of the Family Mitch McConnell married into and from which he benefitted greatly. Mitch married his second wife, Elaine Chao, in February 1993. Ms. Chao then became U.S. Secretary of Labor from 2001-09, and Secretary of Transportation from 2017-21. Not bad for an immigrant with close ties to a communist party. Peter Schweizer writes in his 2018 book, Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends, that Mr. McConnell’s positions on China were hardline against the communist government. However, after his marriage in 1993 he softened considerably, and only one year later in 1994 he was invited by then party leader Jiang Zemin and Vice premier Li Lanqing to visit China. A visit arranged by Elaine Chao’s father. The man, who also blessed the McConnell’s with a multimillion-dollar gift that increased McConnell’s purse tenfold. In return, it seems, McConnell, amid numerous visits and meetings in China, avoided criticism of China and spoke positively of the country.

Schweizer names other gifts to China. McConnell defended the Chinese communist actions against Hong Kong and Taiwan. He promoted the idea that America needed to be ambiguous as to whether it would defend Taiwan in case of Chinese attack. When it came to renew China’s most-favored-nation status with the United States, he removed the requirement that China needed to show progress on human rights, after their Tiananmen Square massacre.

Meanwhile, his wife as Secretary of Labor, opposed a petition filed against China on the subject of worker’s rights based on the U.S. Trade act of 1974. She also criticized a bipartisan congressional report citing Chinese espionage against the United States.

Of course, McConnell clashed with then President Donald Trump over China tariffs and the closing of the border, a venue for Chinese to enter the country unobserved.

I could go on for many pages, but I think I made my point. McConnell has been bought and paid for and should be listed as a foreign agent. In many people’s minds he is a traitor, if not to the country, he is certainly that to the party.

Born in Germany in 1941, Sigrid Weidenweber remembers the horrific aftermath of Fascism. At the end of the war, she found herself living under Communism. Both of these totalitarian regimes left indelible marks on her psyche. She developed a healthy distrust of governments usurping too many powers in order to control people supposedly for their own good. MORE
