Hello and happy Saturday! As the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Education Subcommittee Chairman, I recently hosted a Parents Roundtable in our district with House Education and Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (NC-05) to hear from local parents on how to promote academic achievement so every child can reach their fullest potential. We also held productive discussions with teachers and school board members on the changes our schools need, such as curriculum that educates not indoctrinates, ensuring a baseline of parents’ rights, and preparing the workforce for the future. It’s simple. I trust parents and so do my House Republican colleagues. This week, the House of Representatives successfully delivered another victory on behalf of the American people with the passage of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act. This bold, transformational education reform is exactly what our nation needs to empower parents, protect kids, and expand education freedom. ON HOUSE FLOOR: BEAN ADVOCATES FOR PARENTS BILL OF RIGHTS |
Do parents have the right to be involved in their child’s education? 72% of Americans have answered YES to that question— and they’re correct. The Parents Bill of Rights will solidify the rights of parents to know what’s going on inside their child’s classroom and will usher in a new era of K-12 education where our students and school systems thrive. |
TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE HEARING ON FAA REAUTHORIZATION |
The aviation industry has experienced increased unpredictability over the last few years. To put things in perspective, air travelers have experienced delays, cancellations, lost baggage, and general frustration with the air travel industry. As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, it’s imperative that the next FAA Reauthorization addresses these issues to improve overall passenger experience. |
BEAN MEETS WITH FLORIDA SCHOOL STUDENTS |
It’s always a great day to visit with students from the free state of Florida! I enjoyed meeting these students on the steps of the Capitol and sharing with them about the legislative process. Planning to visit Washington, D.C.? Fourth District residents can contact my office to request tours or to receive passes to some of the most popular attractions in our nation’s capital, including the White House and U.S. Capitol. Contact my D.C. Office at 202-225-0123 if you have any questions. |
CONGRESSMAN BEAN QUESTIONS SBA ADMINISTRATOR GUZMAN |
I kicked off our House Committee on Small Business hearing earlier this week by asking Small Business Administration Administrator Isabella Guzman if SBA employees are still working from home, and she replied that they are “mission based remote.” While small businesses struggle to stay open, SBA employees— an agency that exists to solely serve small business owners—continue to work from home. Our nation’s small business owners and taxpayers deserve better, and the Committee is determined to get the Small Business Administration back to work and back on track to help Main Street America. |
2023 CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION ANNOUCEMENT |
I am thrilled to announce the 2023 Congressional Art Competition has officially opened! It is my honor to invite and encourage high school students throughout the Fourth District to share their artistic creations by participating in the annual Congressional Art Competition, where the winning entry will be proudly displayed at the U.S. Capitol. I’m continually amazed by the remarkable talents of our young artists, and I’m positive this year will be no different. |
