By Congressman Aaron Bean

Last week, the House took up the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which authorizes programs and spending for the Department of Defense (DoD).  The provisions in this year’s NDAA invest in emerging technologies, uphold our nuclear posture, and strengthen our military readiness. It meets our national security needs while rejecting the radical left’s divisive woke policies. This legislation instead prioritizes the morale and welfare of our service members with a 5.2% pay raise, the largest pay raise in 20 years. For these reasons, I was proud to advance this defense bill that supports our servicemembers and their families, ensures the lethality of our military, and counters the unprecedented threats posed by our adversaries. BEAN JOINS D.C. SHMOOZE
A quality education can transform a child’s future. Yet some parents don’t get a choice in their child’s education, leaving them in failing schools.  As the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittee Chairman, we are going to change that. I joined Orthodox Union Advocacy Center’s D.C. Shmooze podcast to discuss this, the U.S.-Israel relationship and more.

The failure of the Small Business Administration (SBA) to implement strong guardrails for its COVID-19 pandemic-relief programs resulted in the theft of $200 billion of taxpayer money.  I joined Wake Up America on Newsmax to discuss how the Small Business Committee is holding the SBA accountable.

BEAN TAKES TO HOUSE FLOOR TO SPEAK IN SUPPORT OF AMERICA’S MILITARY
How would you explain to General George Patton that POTUS believes a drag show digital ambassador gives our military a strategic advantage? It sounds absurd, but what’s even more absurd is that it’s true.

Earlier last week, I spoke on the House floor in support of House Republicans’ NDAA, which pushes back against the radical woke ideology being forced on our servicemen and women.

MEET SWINDLER BARBIE
One of the most disturbing stories to come out of the Small Business Administration (SBA), is the Barbie Doll Face Scam. At the SBA, fraudsters were able to use the faces of Barbie dolls to pass “safeguards” to get a pandemic loan.  During the Small Business Committee hearing titled, “Stolen Taxpayer Funds: Reviewing the SBA and OIG Reports of Fraud in Pandemic Lending Programs,” I sounded the alarm on this scheme to obtain fraudulent funds.

BEAN ADVANCES LEGISLATION TO MAKE HOSPITAL PRICES CLEAR TO PATIENTS
I offered an updated version of House Education and Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx’s (NC-05) Transparency in Billing Act. This legislation requires hospitals to have policies and procedures in place for accurate billing to ensure that no American lives in fear of his or her medical bill. This legislation is part of a four-tiered bipartisan health care package that successfully passed out of the Education and Workforce Committee to empower patients, reduce costs, and increase transparency.
