Good morning, C&C, and welcome to Saturday’s weekend edition! Today’s roundup includes a roundup of responses to the Biden’s Big Teleprompter Speech; good news about Free Florida; and we look at the FBI’s more detailed inventory of stuff it grabbed during the Biden Raid on Mar-a-Lago.

🗞 *THE C&C ARMY POST* 🗞

🪖 Yesterday I deleted a comment from someone with a brand-new Substack account, because it sounded just like our friend Ray Epps. The comment, which didn’t refer to anything particular in the post, ended with, “…so we are going to have to take things into our own hands and it’s going to get ugly. Who’s with me?” Or something like that.

Ironically, the comment was about the very post where I advised NOT taking the bait. If the guy was legit, and not a stool pigeon, I deleted the comment for his own good.

So. I’m not saying it was somebody getting paid by somebody to stir up trouble and collect evidence. But to be clear to anyone wondering, we aren’t doing any insurrections here, just mocking the stupidity of it all. It’s a dry hole.

Anyway, I can’t read all the usually-fantastic comments all the time, so if you’re a regular in the comments section and you see something else like this crop up, please call it out and shut it down.

🗞*COVID NEWS AND COMMENTARY* 🗞

🔥 Yesterday, ’Friday Joe Biden’ obliquely criticized ‘Thursday Joe Biden’, when Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Biden if he considered ALL Trump supporters to be a threat to the country. Biden snapped, “I don’t consider ANY Trump supporters a threat to the country.”

Thursday night’s Joe Biden was not available to comment on what Friday Biden said.

Appearing to have forgotten all about his speech the previous night, Friday Biden further explained to Mr. Doocy that, just because people vote for somebody, it doesn’t automatically, make them a threat, that is unless they don’t believe Biden won fairly, or if they literally attacked the Capitol, or if they don’t believe that January 6th was indisputably one million times worse than the Civil War:

“Anyone who calls for the use of violence … refuses to acknowledge when an election has been won, [or] insists on changing the rules about the way we count votes. That is a threat to democracy.”

But Biden allowed there might be some good Republicans out there somewhere:

“When people voted for Donald Trump and support him now, they weren’t voting for attacking the Capitol. They weren’t voting for overturning an election. They were voting for a philosophy he put forward. I am not talking about anything other than it is inappropriate… the failure to recognize and condemn violence when it is used for political purposes, [or] failure to condemn the manipulation [of] election outcomes.”

That sort of describes a lot of people. Maybe Biden DOES mean all Republicans. But Friday’s messaging was quite different, more qualified, and toned-down. I guess the overnights didn’t poll well. Or maybe Friday Biden just forgot what Thursday Biden read off the teleprompter. You never know.

Next, I really hate to ‘go there,’ but I am aware there’s a conspiracy theory that Joe Biden uses a bunch of body doubles for everything from giving interviews to meeting with foreign leaders. There’s some pretty wild video out there that really makes you wonder. But normally I stay far away from the conspiracy theories, not least of all because that market is already fully saturated.

But still, I mean, come on. Are these really the same two guys?

Haha, I’m only kidding. It’s probably just that his meds were working better Thursday night. Or something.

🔥 The New York Post ran an amusing story yesterday headlined, “Democrats Melt Down After CNN Hosts Criticize Biden Speech.” Leftist media types seem to think that CNN is trying to reform its awful image as a bastion of loony blueAnon conspiracy theories, and lefties don’t like it, not one little bit. The unhinged social media reaction yesterday focused on this tweet by CNN reporter Brianna Keilar:

That’s not much evidence that CNN is wholesale pivoting. But you know, there might be something to it. This before/after shot of two tweets from recently-fired CNN reporter John Harwood was also making the rounds yesterday:

CNN was right to fire Harwood. Reporters are supposed to be neutral, or at least look that way.

It’s not like CNN is tacking to the right of Fox or anything. But SOMETHING seems to be shifting. On Thursday after Biden’s boisterous speech, CNN anchor Don Lemon vigorously defending Biden — but he was doing so while debating a gal who was representing the conservative take on the speech. In other words, they aired both sides. If CNN does get its act together and start reporting the news in an even-handed way, that would be fine with me. Fox could use a little competition.

But CNN’s liberal viewers have launched a campaign to delete the CNN app from their devices in protest of the network presenting both sides of the Biden Speech debate. If you like the way it’s going, or just like poking the left, you might consider the previously unthinkable option of downloading the CNN news app as a counter-protest.

🔥 Governor DeSantis labeled Biden “the American Nero,” and called his speech “one of the most disgusting speeches an American president has ever given.” DeSantis pointed out Biden’s goofy hypocrisy: “he ran as being a unifier, and he’s basically saying to the vast majority of the country that disapproves of him that they’re effectively a threat to the Republic.”

What I appreciated most from his remark is that DeSantis understands the difference between “muh democracy” and “our Republic.”

🔥 Somebody tallied up the important issues Biden referenced in his great big prime-time “rally the country by breaking it in half” speech, in order of least- to most-often mentioned by Biden during the speech:

Haha, just kidding about Corn Pop. The rest of it’s right though.

🔥 I think Fox’s Greg Gutfeld had the right take on the Biden Speech:

“They’re trying to goad you into an emotional state for violence. That’s what they actually want. This was the funniest — one of the funniest — this looks like it was put on by South Park. Joe tried — I mean — he’s Darth Vader in depends. They tried to project some kind of darkness on the Republican Party. But it actually projected backwards, right? It looked like a dystopian movie trailer where the dead president is played by a hologram. The whole vibe was hilariously creepy… You gotta laugh at this. Probably one of the funniest presidential moments in history.”

Fox News @FoxNewsGreg Gutfeld: Biden’s ‘MAGA Republicans’ speech is one of the funniest presidential moments in history @greggutfeld Greg Gutfeld: Biden’s ‘MAGA Republicans’ speech is one of the funniest presidential moments in historyFox News host Greg Gutfeld shook off President Biden’s Thursday night speech attacking “MAGA Republicans” as “hilarious” and having backfired on “The Five.”fxn.wsSeptember 3rd 202295 Retweets576 Likes

Okay, enough Biden Teleprompter Reading fallout news.

📈 Governor DeSantis keeps on winning the survey wars. According to the latest CATO Institute freedom survey, the Sunshine State is in first place over all the states for both fiscal and economic freedom, and Florida is second overall for personal freedom.

Great job, Governor!

Despite the high overall ranking, CATO’s report did identify one area of possible improvement:

Gun rights [in Florida] are mediocre and became more restrictive in 2018, as the state has waiting periods for handguns, local dealer licensing, and virtually no open carry. It does have a “Stand Your Ground” law and protects the right to use sound suppressors.

Legislators, take note of some opportunities to shore up our wins.

👽 Of all places, the Hill ran an op-ed this week titled, “The Pentagon should release dozens of UFO videos.”

The author isn’t just some guy in a basement. Marik von Rennenkampff, whose name makes him sound like he time-traveled here from 1830, was an analyst with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, and an Obama administration appointee at DOD. So.

I’m just so amazed by all this UFO interest. What happens if they’re really here? Then what?

🔥 This week Governor DeSantis also announced that Florida sued the FDA. The dispute is over a Trump-era program allowing States to buy drugs from Canada, where Pharma sells their products much more cheaply than in the U.S. The program requires states to submit their proposed programs to the FDA for approval. But the FDA, which just approved covid boosters after studying eight mice for about ten minutes, has moved with bureaucratic glacier-like speed on its review of Florida’s 18-months-old drug application.

Apparently the FDA has also been unable to provide ANY documents — not one — related to the process for approving drug program applications, not in a year and a half. First, Florida asked nicely, then it submitted a freedom-of-information request. Still nothing.

So if you’ve had trouble getting documents from your public records requests, don’t feel like you’re all by yourself. It can even happen to STATES.

The Epoch Times @EpochTimesFor 630 days a warehouse in Lakeland has sat vacant—waiting on a shipment of drugs from #Canada that never came. @GovRonDeSantis said he “has waited long enough” and is filing suit against the @US_FDA to “put an end to” delays. 🔥 Finally, the FBI filed a more detailed inventory of what they snatched from Mar-a-Lago during the Biden raid, in an effort to frustrate President Trump’s request for a special master. As a lawyer, I find the inventory to be extremely interesting.

Here’s a link what the FBI filed. (https://tinyurl.com/3krntcjb)

The inventory doesn’t add a whole lot of detail. The original inventory was two pages long, this new one is seven pages long, grouping the items into seven “items from office” classes and twenty-six “boxes from storage room” classes. It describes the various items and documents seized like this representative example from Item #4, labeled “Documents from Office”:

This example includes two (2) documents with confidential or secret markings, which seem like fair game under the FBI’s admittedly weak theory of the case. Of course, these documents could have already been formally or informally declassified, as Trump has argued. There’s no way to tell.

But the example also includes 383 documents that are NOT marked confidential or secret, including many magazine articles and random “government” pictures. When thinking about the pictures, imagine things like photos of President Trump meeting with Brazilian president Balsonero in the Rose Garden or something.

Why would the FBI seize magazine articles and random White House pictures?

The VAST MAJORITY of the items listed on the detailed 7-page inventory fall into this second category of items that are NOT marked classified or secret. Some entire classes of items are patently non-classified, like Item #8, “Box/Container from Storage Room”:

In this example, the crack team of FBI investigators seized a bunch of magazine articles, a book, two photos, and an “article of clothing/gift item.” Like a t-shirt from Cracker’s Oyster Bar or something. In what universe would a t-shirt have any possible interest or relevance to the breathless and hyperbolic claims that Trump stole top-secret nuclear data?

In total, the raid grabbed five different articles of gift clothing. Best and brightest.

And how about that book? Unless it was Thomas Jefferson’s original diary or something, it seems hard to imagine why the FBI would have scooped it up during the raid.

While it MIGHT be arguable that the FBI needed an entire box containing a single classified document so that they could later prove where the classified document was kept, there’s not really any good reason for them to have collected entire boxes without ANY classified documents at all.

One box contained some empty file folders that have triggered the lefty fever swamp’s delusional imagination:

In the tortured imaginations of radical twitterers, Trump carefully extracted top-secret classified documents and traded the secrets to North Korea for a fistful of cash, leaving the empty file folder behind in the box, every time. Which makes no sense at all if you stop to think about it for three seconds.

Having raced down these rabbit trails all too often in the midst of a contentious lawsuit, very often these “clues” turn out to be the most unremarkable of facts. I’m just spitballing, but maybe the empty folders look a lot more like someone just cleaned out a drawer in the Oval Office and dumped it in a box — after someone else had already removed the classified documents for safekeeping. And the empty folders labeled “return to staff” suggest the documents were already RETURNED TO STAFF.

I’m not saying I know anything more than anyone else. That’s the point. We don’t know. These hot takes are hilarious.

Lacking any better explanation, the inventory seems like evidence that maybe the FBI grabbed a lot more than they were looking for so as to obscure the REAL reason for the raid, whatever it was. The alternatives don’t really add up.

Have a wonderful weekend! I’ll see you guys here first thing Monday morning for more.
