Good morning, C&C, it’s Thursday! Today we have a mostly good-news roundup of items generating incomprehensible fury on the left: RFK Jr. files to run for President against Biden; Twitter slaps β€œstate media” label on NPR and chaos ensues; Mayo Clinic finally announces end to hospital mask mandates; Gavin Newsom visits Florida again to spread liberal hogwash to tiny groups in library meeting rooms; crime-ridden Chicago decides to try a woke democrat mayor for a change; Texas senate bans naked fat men from dancing in front of kids and libs lose their minds; but Canada is going the opposite way.

πŸ—žπŸ’¬ *WORLD NEWS AND COMMENTARY* πŸ’¬πŸ—ž

πŸ”₯ The Wall Street Journal ran a story yesterday headlined, β€œRobert Kennedy Jr. Files to Run for President as a Democrat.” Well, he would, wouldn’t he, because he’s been a lifelong democrat and comes from a family of lifelong democrats, but whatever.

Check out the Journal’s sobering sub-headline: β€œThe scion of the Kennedy family is a known Covid-19 vaccine skeptic.”

Bwahahahaha! See what they did there? I don’t mean smearing him as a vaccine skeptic, which he’s been for AGES. The covid jabs were just the latest disaster as far as Robert Kennedy goes. I’m talking about the prefix the journal added right BEFORE calling him a vaccine skeptic.

He’s a KNOWN vaccine skeptic! As opposed to the secret kind, who lurk around in back alleys waiting to catch you by yourself to fill your head with anti-pharmaceutical lies! Sometimes you can just TELL, just by looking at someone, that they harbor dangerous anti-vaccine thoughts. Their beady eyes are a little unfocused, dreamy perhaps, often staring off into the sky like they’re imagining a dystopian Heaven without needles. But you must be vigilant! Anti-vaxxing ideas spread faster than the Delta variant. All too often, you can’t tell for sure until a person outs themselves. Your own neighbor could be a secret anti-vaxxer, no matter how many times you make them swear on the jabs.

But Robert Kennedy, Jr., well, he created an anti-vaxx foundation and has even written books! THAT guy is an anti-vaxxer for sure. It’s KNOWN.

Anyway, Kennedy filed the paperwork yesterday. His father was Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, and he’s former President John F. Kennedy’s nephew. So he has the democrats’ favorite credentials: royal bloodline.

In March, Kennedy tweeted his one and only statement β€” so far β€” about his intended campaign platform. He said, β€œIf I run, my top priority will be to end the corrupt merger between state and corporate power that has ruined our economy, shattered the middle class, polluted our landscapes and waters, poisoned our children, and robbed us of our values and freedoms.”

Sounds like a pretty typical democrat platform to me. I mean, it WOULD HAVE BEEN a pretty typical democrat platform, before they went with β€œanybody can be a woman!”

While the Journal dismissively labeled Kennedy’s entrance a β€œlong shot,” I disagree. You can’t beat Kennedy’s liberal bona fides. They’ll try to smear him as a conservative with the β€œanti-vaxxer” tag but that’s misreading the room. There are a LOT of democrats who are also unhappy about jab mandates. Maybe not a majority, but I’d wager it’s an impressive part of the base.

Kennedy’s run has no downside. Worst case, his stock still rises and his message gets more attention. When he loses the primary, he could shift and run as an independent. His campaign would draw Biden voters.

For a happy thought today, imagine the Biden β€” Kennedy primary debates.

I’m inclined to multiply the brand-new Kennedy campaign once he sets up a website. Let me know what you think in the comments.

πŸ”₯ The AP ran a sidesplitting story yesterday headlined, β€œNPR Protests as Twitter Calls It β€˜State-Affiliated Media’.”

While skepticism over Elon Musk’s true intentions is duly warranted, the tech, clean-energy, space, and now social media billionaire has done it again. Yesterday, liberal hysteria erupted over Twitter’s perma-labeling of NPR as β€œstate affiliated media,” a virtue-signaling label previously reserved for liberal targets of hate like Russia Today:

Twitter owner Elon Musk quoted a definition of state-affiliated media in the company’s guidelines as β€œoutlets where the state exercises control over editorial content through financial resources, direct or indirect political pressures, and/or control over production and distribution.”

β€œSeems accurate,” Musk replied to NPR in a tweet. Asked for comment, Twitter’s press office responded with an automated poop emoji.

It’s so unfair! NPR’s CEO John Lansing was feeling downright shirty about the whole thing:

FYI, before taking the helm at NPR, Lansing was the CEO of USAGM, which supervises offocial U.S. propaganda networks like Voice of America (VOA), the Office of Cuba Broadcasting, and state-funded Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia, Middle East Broadcasting Networks and the government’s Open Technology Fund.

Tons of liberal commenters are tearing their shirts in anguish over the label and excreting hotly-worded condemnations of Twitter’s bias and politicization, like New York Times’ opinion editor Lourdes Navarro:

Of course, not one of these unserious hypocrites uttered a single peep of protest back when conservative media organizations were labeled β€œdisinformation” by Twitter’s former management.

So, who cares what they think?

πŸ”₯ In another development that will infuriate virtue-signalers and other woke liberals, three years and umpteen studies later, the obscene Mayo Clinic has finally decided to stop denying The Science:

Coincidentally, assuming Biden does not sign the bill ending the covid state of emergency, it will automatically become law on April 10th, the same day Mayo plans to drop mandatory masking. Weird.

Also curiously, April 10th is the day after Easter, the Christian celebration of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead.

🦩 Apparently Gavin Newsom wishes he lived in Florida too. Yesterday, the Sarasota Herald Tribune ran a story headlined, β€œCalifornia Gov. Newsom rips DeSantis during Sarasota visit with New College students.”

New College is the small, failing, hyper-woke school whose board was recently replaced by Governor DeSantis. But like the Voice of America bringing hope to repressed East Germans, Newsom brought hope yesterday to the tormented liberal students at New College.

β€œI want you to know you’re not alone, you matter, we care,” Newsom told a gullible handful of New College students who think they’re upset about Governor DeSantis’ efforts to fix their school.

Newsom’s β€œevent” was held at the North Sarasota Public Library, drawing a β€œmassive crowd” of only about two dozen students, faculty and community members, according to the Herald-Tribune. Florida does not appear to be fertile ground where Governor Newsom’s seeds of wokeness can find any purchase.

The Sarasota stop was part of Newsom’s β€œgrand tour” of Southeastern red states, where he has been constantly complaining about new laws that Newsom claims are taking the country in the wrong direction.

Why? He’s planning a run for President, or possibly as Kamala Harris’ replacement. Mark my words.

Irony:

πŸ”₯ Speaking of PBS, the state-affiliated news group ran a story yesterday headlined, β€œBrandon Johnson, Union Organizer and Former Teacher, Elected Chicago Mayor in Victory for Progressives.”

Progressive Chicagoans, already reeling from the dystopian leftist policies of Lori Lightfoot, are about to learn how bad it can really get. An openly gay marxist, Johnson was the zaniest, wokest liberal on the ballot. His incoherent slogan-based platform included de-funding the police, to teach them a lesson for racism, or whatever.

During the campaign, Brandon snookered Chicago voters by promising that, instead of spending money on policing and incarceration, the city will focus on mental health treatment, affordable housing for all, and β€œjobs for youth.” To pay for all these new programs, Brandon explained his secret economic plan will quickly raise $800 million β€” through the novel technique of taxing β€œultrarich” people and the last-standing Chicago businesses, cramming down a per-employee β€œhead tax” on employers (so much for jobs for youth), and piling even more taxes on already-dwindling hotel room stays.

Chicago retailers, already dealing with sky-high taxes and chaotic crime sprees, were understandably not taking it too well. A WGN-TV interviewer asked Brandon, “Do you worry about stores leaving Chicago and the county because they don’t think it’s safe?”

Brandon airily dismissed the concern, explaining “these companies have insurance and assurance.” He also said, “you can’t take a certain level of urgency to protect capital and the wealthy and not have that same tenacity to provide relief for families that have been devastated through structural racism for generations.”

Well, he has a point. How does protecting retail stores help anybody except rich fatcat retail store owners?

So let’s go, Brandon!

To our dear C&C’ers trapped behind the lines in Chicago: Florida is extremely nice this time of year. It’s cool and sunny here, with blue skies as far as the eye can see. Which is pretty far, because the state is flat as a pancake.

πŸ”₯ The Palestine Herald-Press ran an encouraging story yesterday headlined, β€œTexas Senators Ban Drag Events in Front of Minors.”

Super serious people testify before the Texas Senate

Senate Bill 12 would criminalize drag shows or any other overtly sexual performance if held in front of β€” or could occur in front of β€” children, applies to the hosting businesses, restaurants, and bars, and could result in a $10,000 fine.

Senate Bill 1601 would forbid libraries from hosting sexually-related events, including drag story hours, and would threaten their public funding as a consequence for violations.

Although only LBGTQIA++ people are reacting hysterically, the language of the bills is generally neutral, and would ban traditional sexual entertainment β€” as well as perverted β€œdrag shows” β€” whenever children are present.

The ACLU, having been in a coma for the last three years, hauled itself out of its government-subsidized sickbed to protest the unfairness of stopping unattractive, mostly-overweight men from nearly-nude twerking in front of kids. According to the ACLU, stopping groomers somehow β€œerases trans people.”

It wasn’t specific how.

Earlier this week, the Texas Senate also passed a bill that would ban puberty blockers and hormones for kids. So.

Come on, Texas House. You can do it!

🍁 Meanwhile, Canada seems to be going the exact opposite direction:

It’s nice to see such serious people in key government roles for a change. Since Canada has already criminalized misusing pronouns, just ask Jordan Peterson, I bet our Canadian brothers and sisters wish they had a nice strong Bill of Rights, too.

Have a terrific Thursday! I’ll see you back here tomorrow for much more.
